THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

The gospel for the third Sunday of Easter is always one in which the risen Christ shares food with the disciples, meals that are the Easter template for the meal we share each Lord’s day. In today’s gospel, Jesus both shares the disciples’ food and shows them the meaning of his suffering, death, and resurrection through the scriptures: the two main elements of our Sunday worship.

Adult Forum April 22 and Coffee Hour May 27: Lutherans from Rwanda at St. Mark’s!
Our Lutheran Sierra Pacific Synod has a companion relationship with the Lutheran Church of Rwanda (LCR). In April and May, St. Mark’s hosted one visitor from Rwanda on April 14 and will have two more visits from Lutherans of Rwanda.

She is the Rwanda country coordinator for Lutheran “Young Adults in Global Mission” (YAGMs). She will talk about her work with youth in mission, and the Lutheran Church of Rwanda. Come hear about YAGMs and our accompaniment of the Lutheran Church of Rwanda.

A PERSONAL NOTE OF GRATITUDE
Thank you for your prayers, words of support, cards, flowers, and loving embrace during this time of grief in our family.  Throughout these months of sadness with the death of Hans’s mother last year, the death of Hans’s father in January and the death of my father in March, we have been embraced by the love of Christ through the community of St. Mark’s.   Thank you for sharing your stories of grief and loss with us.  Thank you for reaching out to Grace and acknowledging her grief as a teenager and grandchild.  We are grateful to all of you.  With Easter hope,  Pr. ST. MARK'S YOUNG ADULT GATHERING
On Sunday, May 6, the young adults of St. Mark’s will be gathering at 12:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Urban Life Center for a simple lunch and time to catch up with everyone in terms of what is happening in people’s lives.  We also will use this time to talk about what we may want to do together throughout the summer months.  This is a very open and informal group and both members and friends of St. Mark’s are welcome to participate.  If you have the opportunity, please let Pastor Ron know if you are planning to attend so that he can plan food accordingly.
