When you come to St. Mark’s for the first time, whether to attend a worship service or join in our fellowship, we would like to be able to connect with you and extend an invitation to you to be a part of our community of faith. Please fill out a Welcome Card that you will find in the entrance to the sanctuary or in the pew rack and give it to one of the ushers or pastors, or speak to one of our pastors directly. Until such time as you would choose to become a member of St. Mark’s, you are welcome to participate fully in our worship services, educational events, small group fellowships, and congregational activities. Following our worship services on Sunday mornings, you are invited to join us for a time of conversation in Heritage Hall where you will be treated with a table full of treats and refreshments and have an opportunity to get to meet other members of the congregation who can tell you more about our ministries at St. Mark’s.
JOURNEYS IN FAITH
Whenever you desire to become a member of St. Mark’s, you will be invited to participate in Journeys in Faith which is a ministry of St. Mark’s for people who are considering Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism, and desire to become a member of the congregation. This ministry generally begins in the fall and continues through the spring. Participants gather weekly on Sunday mornings during the Education Hour to get acquainted with other people interested in membership, delve into the major tenets of Lutheranism, explore the meaning of faith and discipleship, and learn more about the mission and ministries of St. Mark’s. This ministry includes several rites throughout the year as a way of introducing and welcoming participants into the St. Mark’s community. This ritual journey culminates at the Easter Vigil when those wishing to be baptized or to affirm their baptism are officially welcomed into the community of St. Mark’s. If you are interested in membership at St. Mark’s, please contact one of the pastors and they will direct you to the dedicated team of volunteers who direct this vital ministry. If you are interested in learning more about St Mark’s, we would love to talk with you! All questions are welcome. Contact Liv Beck (firstname.lastname@example.org; 415-205-3292).
