The Senior Center

The Senior Center is an organization which operates out of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Martin Luther Tower.  It is an active ministry managed by the church.  All seniors of the St. Mark's, Martin Luther Tower, and surrounding communities are welcome to participate in the center's various programs.

 

Activities are meant to be fun and affordable, and are usually done on a monthly basis.  Luncheons with informational speakers, music or other entertainment, barbecues, and holiday parties are held regularly on St. Mark's Square.  Offsite activities have included excursions to the country, movie outings and

Senior Luncheons

Senior Center Luncheons take place in Heritage Hall every third Thursday of the month from 12 noon to approximately 1:00 pm. Cost: $4. To RSVP for lunches please call the MLT Office at 415.885.1084.

Senior Trips

Senior Trips depart from the Brockie Lounge at Martin Luther Tower. All trips are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of participants varies depending on drivers' availability. The trips generally take place on a Friday, and the usual departure time is 10 am unless indicated otherwise. Typical cost: $3 (transportation fee). Martin Luther Tower

Martin Luther Tower (MLT) is a 121 unit, 13 story apartment building, located at 1001 Franklin Street that provides affordable, independent living for seniors.

 

MLT was built in the 1960’s as a response to the challenge of urban redevelopment and as a ministry to senior citizens in the Cathedral Hill community.  Today, while St. Mark's has entrusted the management of the apartment building to EAH, the church continues to fulfill its commitment to affordable housing and its ministry to seniors in the community.
